A little peek into Art Paper Scissors owner Lisa’s garden!
The team at Art Paper Scissors is made up of people who love the planet that we live on. We are serious gardeners, ocean-dwellers, animal rescuers, recyclers, energy-efficient car-driving, “make sure all the lights are off when you’re not in the room” kind of people. And we work hard to put these practices into our daily work, too.
We’re proud to share some of the ways we strive to keep Art Paper Scissors as sustainable and eco-friendly as we possibly can:
Every element of the invitation is designed for zero waste. Every scrap from someone’s invitation is repurposed. Our team designs invitations in a strategic way so the scraps not needed for that particular invitation can be used in another invitation (like as a second layer or a backing).
Unusable scraps are never thrown away. If the sizing is not usable for another piece of stationery, they are donated to a local children’s public art center.
Packing materials are always reused and never purchased. The APS team repurposes all of the packing materials received in orders or shipments sent to us. Boxes, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, paper, and more are all repurposed when we mail out orders; we have never purchased any packing materials since we have been in business!
We choose local businesses. All of our white and ivory paper used in our designs come from a local facility that is less than a mile away. The rest of the paper and supplies are within a 4-hour distance from our office. We use local suppliers to cut down the environmental impact of shipping and delivery.
The sunshine fuels our work. Whenever we work from home, solar panels offset almost all of our electricity use.
