Vendor Spotlight: Gilded Lily Events


Art Paper Scissors is lucky to work with incredible vendors and create the most amazing experience for our couples. One such vendor is Gilded Lily Events, a full-service design and planning studio specializing in wedding and love. 

We’ve done a Q&A with Paige VanGombos, founder and owner of Gilded Lily Events, based in Red Bank, New Jersey. Paige and her team have been bringing wedding dreams and Pinterest boards to reality for six years, with her eye for romance, beauty and detail. Get to know Gilded Lily and Paige:

APS: You have truly made an incredible name for yourself in the six years you have been part of the wedding design and planning industry. How did you get started?

Paige: I started my business after learning that I truly enjoyed and was good at planning weddings after planning my wedding 7 years ago. After that experience, I was called up for other events for family and friends. I quickly learned that it was the perfect occupation for my personality type and I enjoyed working with clients to bring one of the most memorable days in their lives to life.

APS: Tell us about your design style and aesthetic. 

Paige: I strive to create design details that compliment each couple’s style however I find that there is a common thread that is woven through any Gilded Lily Events wedding. I like to combine classic elements with whimsical details. Each wedding is a unique opportunity to create something memorable for both our couples and their guests.

APS: What services do you offer for the bride and groom – from design to florals?

Paige: We focus primarily on weddings and offer full planning, design and day of coordination packages. Our full planning package covers absolutely every thing that you would need to bring your wedding to life both visually and logistically. However, I find that most brides that find me are drawn to our aesthetic so more often than not, choose us for our design services which is by far my favorite part of the planning process.

APS: What advice would you give to a newly engaged couple beginning the planning process, and how to incorporate their theme into their invitation design?

Paige: There is so much advice that I could give but I think that there are two pieces of advice that will help make the process enjoyable. Number one is to celebrate the planning milestones, which will serve as double duty since you will remember to relax and date your fiancé during the process. Finally, there will always be another idea, another pin, another image on Instagram but at a certain point if that detail didn’t occur to you it is not that important and you can go without it. 

Invitations are the crux of your wedding design. I always suggest really having a good idea of the design direction and feel of the wedding you are creating before going to your stationer. Once the invitations have been designed, you can take elements from your invitations suite to translate into the escort cards, table numbers, signage to create those cohesive details that truly make your wedding yours.

APS: What is your absolute favorite part of your client’s Big Day?

Paige: I love weddings! I better love them, right?! To be honest, each wedding morning look forward to the potential because all of the work that we have put into the details is finally going to be revealed.  I love when my clients finally see how all of our ideas have come to life and they take a deep breath and just enjoy themselves because all the work is behind them. On a personal level, since becoming a parent of a little boy, my favorite moment of the wedding is watching the mother/son dance. I cannot imagine how proud those mothers are.

We’ve done a Q&A with Kelly Heyn, owner of SociaLife, to see what goes into being a bride’s right-hand woman the day of her wedding. We work with Kelly and her team to ensure that every couple nails their vision and wedding theme, and how they want their dream wedding invitation to look.

APS: How did you get started in the wedding planning and production business (or, how did SociaLife … come to life)?

Kelly: I grew up in the wedding business. My father was the owner of Heyn Photography, which is now owned by his partner Marissa. I grew up flipping through wedding albums and watching him work directly with couples. As I got older, I started working with him to design the wedding albums. I realized that while I didn’t have a passion for photography itself, I did enjoy design and working one-on-one with clients. That’s when I decided to break into the wedding industry and began working for a local floral designer. I absolutely fell in love with being onsite at weddings and creating a one-of-a-kind event. Soon after, SociaLife was born!

APS: What services do you offer couples, and in what stage of planning do most come to SociaLife for assistance?

Kelly: At SociaLife, we offer everything from full wedding planning to day-of coordination. Some clients hire us right after they get engaged to assist them with finding a venue and booking their wedding vendors. However, we have clients that hire us after they have planned the bulk of the wedding themselves, but have decided that they want someone else to execute the details on the day-of, so that they can fully enjoy the wedding day without worry.

Over the years we have found that brides and grooms come to us at different stages in their planning, some needing more assistance then others. Because of this, we recently started allowing our clients to “build their own” package; that way, couples can hire a planner for the exact services they need the most assistance with. Whether they need help with event design, or assistance in setting up transportation for their guests, we are able to create a package that is right for them.

APS: What advice would you give to a newly engaged couple beginning the planning process, and how to incorporate their theme into their invitation design?

Kelly: After the wedding date and the venue is chosen, the theme and style of the event should be the next item that couples discuss. Are you interested in throwing a formal party or a more casual affair? Do you want your wedding to reflect the season, such as a fall wedding that incorporates pumpkins, or would you prefer a more unique theme, such as a nautical or rustic? Finally, is there a specific color palette that you would like to incorporate? These decisions will be carried into the rest of your planning. For instance, the colors you choose will likely be incorporated into your wedding attire. The theme of the wedding will typically be reflected in your centerpieces, table lines, floral choices, and of course, invitations! Deciding on all of this in advance will help you and your planner make decisions along the way that reflect the theme and style. It will also help your invitation designer incorporate that vision into your save-the-dates and keep the look cohesive as you move along in your planning and work on your invitations and reception materials.

APS: What gives you the most enjoyment as a professional wedding and party planner?

Kelly: My favorite part about wedding planning is getting to see it all come together. When I start working with clients in the beginning stages of their planning, it’s all brand new. The first meeting is all about me getting to know their personalities, hearing their love story and discussing their wedding plans. Over the course of the planning process, we work closely together to create their wedding. It’s a lot of work! I get to know my clients really well and I try my best to bring their personalities into their wedding details. It’s amazing starting from scratch and then being able to see it all come to life the day of the wedding. During the reception I usually take a step back and just watch everything. I love seeing how happy my clients are. That’s the moment that I really look forward to and it’s what inspires me to keep planning other events. I absolutely love being a part of my couples' special day and helping them create the wedding of their dreams.
