Here at Art Paper Scissors, we absolutely love bringing a couples’ wedding theme to life. From save-the-dates to invitations to thank you cards and everything in between, Art Paper Scissors is a couple's one-stop-shop for all things wedding stationery.

Meet Jessica and Scott, aka The Smiths. They tied the knot in April 2021 at the absolutely breathtaking Bonnet Island Estate. We loved designing their show-stopping wedding invitation suite: coastal booklet-style invitations with a art-inspired jellyfish on the front.

Jessica and Scott are sharing all of the details of their wedding day - read on and swoon over their stunning photos, captured by Jessica Erb Photography.

APS: Tell us about your wedding day. The date, place and any extra fun details you would like to share.

Jessica: Scott and I were married on April 30, 2021 at Bonnet Island Estate in Long Beach Island.  We were blessed with warm weather, sunshine, and A LOT of wind! So we chose to have our first look in the library which perfectly suited our quiet, bookish nature and made the moment all the more special and personal.

APS: How do you remember that special day? Any great memory that stands out?

Jessica: The strong winds made the boathouse chapel creak and it made bits of pampas grass float around like flora starlight. We curated our own handfasting vows with quotes which were so near and dear to our hearts, that it now feels like those words belong to us. It just felt like magic.

APS: What is your favorite part about being married?

Jessica: For me, the best part of being married is simply being able to finally call him my husband. We have been together for eight years and shared countless memories but hearing him finally say “my wife” sends shivers down my spine. Also changing my last name to Smith and not having to spell it out for people anymore!

APS: Describe your wedding theme and feel in 3 words. Why did you choose this theme?

Jessica: Relaxed, understated, personal. We wanted the theme to be a visual reflection of ourselves. We are neither fussy nor flashy, and we worked together through the whole process to make that happen.

APS: How did you decide on your wedding invitation design?

Jessica: Choosing our invitations was made incredibly easy because of Lisa.  We were planning through a pandemic and were only able to have creative meetings by phone call and browse the online gallery. But she took the time to really listen, get a sense of what we were going for and wound up creating something so unique that it truly set the tone for everything else we decided upon.

APS: What design element or feature was a “must have” for your wedding invitations?

Jessica: The invitation “must have” was an artistic feel. We fell in love with the book feature instead of a standard invitation package and the hand drawn look of the cover was a perfect compliment to the overall design. We really wanted our invitations to be something our guests have never seen before and showcased our personality. They received so many compliments and are currently on display in frames in some of our guests’ homes.

APS: What advice do you have for other brides and grooms looking to incorporate their theme or personal elements into their wedding invitations?

Jessica: The biggest piece of advice I could give to couples is to stop looking at Pinterest and start looking at each other. Everyone knows who you are and the more you can highlight your own uniqueness, instead of a theme, the more satisfied you are going to be.
