Bride of the Month: Stephanie

Here at Art Paper Scissors, we absolutely love bringing a couples’ wedding theme to life. From save-the-dates to invitations to thank you cards and everything in between, Art Paper Scissors is a couple's one-stop-shop for all things stationery.

Today we are chatting with our June bride of the month, Stephanie. Stephanie and her husband Javid tied the knot just a few months ago in April 2018 with an elegant reception at Olde Mill Inn. We loved designing their beautiful blush and watercolor floral invitations, perfect for their romantic wedding day.

Stephanie tells all about her wedding day, theme and plenty of advice - read on and enjoy these beautiful photos, taken by Anthony Ziccardi Studios.

Art Paper Scissors: Tell us about your wedding day. The date, place and any extra fun details you would like to share.

Stephanie: Javid and I got married on April 28th, 2018 at the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. It was the perfect venue as we could have the ceremony, reception, and accommodations all in one place for our family and friends attending from near and far. The Olde Mill Inn also owns a restaurant right across the parking lot where we had our rehearsal dinner. The convenience of everything that weekend was amazing. We were close to home, yet still felt like we had a weekend away!

Art Paper Scissors: How do you remember that special day? Any great memory that stands out?

Stephanie: Our special day was truly everything we could have hoped for and so much more! We had 2 ½ years to plan and save up for our wedding, so to actually see all of our visions come to life after all that time was incredible.

A great memory for us was how perfectly the weather held out for us that day. Leading up to our wedding, the weather report kept changing between whether it was going to rain or not. The whole day was picture perfect and we were able to have our ceremony outside, as we were hoping. As soon as we said “I do" the smallest of rain drops starting falling on us. Everyone was able to make it inside before the rain really started to come down. We were so thankful for the timing of the weather, and were still able to grab some amazing night shots with the rain surrounding us. It was the best of everything!

Art Paper Scissors: What is your favorite part about being married?

Stephanie: Simply waking up every morning knowing I get to continue to experience life alongside my favorite person. Javid and I had been friends for 10 years prior to being engaged, so we had always been a special part of each others lives since then. Having that foundation of friendship really made everything afterwards so natural for us.

It really is the best feeling knowing that we get to make dreams of our own together and be there for each other as we make each of them come true. We also love that marriage is only the start of so many wonderful things to come!

Art Paper Scissors: Describe your wedding theme and feel in 3 words. Why did you choose this theme?

Stephanie: Elegant, romantic and timeless. Those words also describe our style and we wanted our wedding to reflect that. The feel of our wedding allowed us to create a beautiful environment for our guests, all while adding our own personal touches to the space.

Art Paper Scissors: How did you decide on your blush watercolor wedding invitation designs?

Stephanie: Being that our wedding was in spring, we wanted our invitations to be light and floral to reflect the season. Blush is so classic and we love how it complimented the other colors we wanted to incorporate in the invitations. We also loved the watercolor feature as it helped to add a whimsical quality to the final product.

Art Paper Scissors: What design element or feature was a “must have” for your wedding invitations?

Stephanie: A floral element was definitely a must! I have always loved flowers and we knew we were going to have a lot incorporated into the decorations at our wedding. We also loved the pocket style design as it was very unique and organized everything really well. Our ultimate goal was to have our invitations be the perfect first impression for our guests into what the feel of our wedding would be like.

We definitely achieved that thanks to Lisa! We were blown away by her ability to incorporate all of our design wishes into a wedding invitation that was better than we could have ever hoped for. The hardest part of the whole process was deciding which of the 3 designs we loved most, as each of them were incredible! The best part was that the invitations were only the beginning. Lisa also created the perfect reception signage for us. The menus, seating cards, table numbers, signature drink sign, and more all reflected the same design elements and gave our wedding a cohesive feel.

Art Paper Scissors: What advice do you have for other brides and grooms looking to incorporate their theme or personal elements into their wedding invitations?

Stephanie: To be consistent with your vision and to be sure to incorporate it throughout different aspects of your wedding. From the invitations, to the decorations, and everything in between it is important to add those elements to make your vision truly comes to life.

Another piece of advice is to not be afraid to ask for suggestions and be open-minded! We really enjoyed the creative process in working with Lisa and appreciated how she gave her professional opinion when talking about the designs.

There were ideas that Lisa mentioned to us that we never thought of before, and we love that we trusted her expertise because the end result was so wonderful. We feel so lucky to have worked with Lisa and will always look back at our wedding invitation with such joy.

Thank you, Stephanie and Javid! We are so happy that you enjoyed every moment of your wedding day. Congratulations!
