January Bride of the Month: Natalie Pino

Today we are chatting with our January bride of the month, Natalie. The new Mrs. Pino and her husband Jason tied the knot last summer with a gorgeous celebration at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge. We loved designing their modern wedding invitations, perfect for their celebration in Warren, NJ.

Natalie is sharing all of the details of their wedding day - read on and enjoy these beautiful photos, captured by MTC Photography!

Art Paper Scissors: Tell us about your wedding day. The date, place and any extra fun details you would like to share.

Natalie: Our wedding day was definitely one to remember! We wanted our day to be one big, fun party and that’s exactly what we had. Our DJ brought a percussionist, drum set, and even some CO2 smoke guns which were all a huge hit. We got married July 28, 2018 at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge in Warren, NJ. Our wedding day truly made me realize how lucky we were to have so many amazing people in our lives. We had our ceremony at the venue and were married by one of my best friends who got ordained for the occasion. Fun fact: he was one of the very first people to know Jay and I were dating! He knows both of us very well and made the ceremony so personal and special. So many people came up to us afterward with compliments about the ceremony and our officiant!

Art Paper Scissors: How do you remember that special day? Any great memory that stands out?

Natalie: My husband and I chose to do a first look before our ceremony and it was truly our favorite memory of the day. It was a great chance for us to be alone and soak it all in before seeing everyone. I had so many butterflies waiting for him to turn around, but seeing the look on his face up close was definitely worth it. He may have shed a few tears, too. To any brides on the fence, I highly recommend doing a first look. Trust me, you’ll still get choked up walking down the aisle and seeing him again!

Art Paper Scissors: What is your favorite part about being married?

Natalie: My favorite part of being married is knowing that we can face any obstacle together. Also, coming home at the end of the day to the person you love the most is probably one of the best feelings in the world.

Art Paper Scissors: Describe your wedding theme and feel in 3 words. Why did you choose this theme?

Natalie: Modern, industrial, rustic.

I definitely didn’t consider myself a traditional bride while planning. While I loved the rustic feel of our venue, I still wanted it to feel very contemporary and modern with lots of gold and greenery. Since it was summer, we chose light colors like blush and neutrals. We also had plenty of candles and lanterns which really set the mood once the sun set. I had very specific visions for my dress and decor before even buying anything! I knew I wanted to look back on my wedding and feel like it was very “us.” For instance, I wanted a wedding dress that truly felt like a dream dress. I brought a photo of the dress I envisioned to Kleinfeld and to my surprise, they had it. I even got the meet the designer, Pnina Tornai!

Art Paper Scissors: How did you decide on your blush, gold, geometric and watercolor wedding invitations?

Natalie: I had quite an obsession with geometric designs prior to our wedding, so I knew I had to incorporate it into our wedding somehow! I was already planning on getting some geometric decor for around the venue, so it made sense to have it on our invitations as well. I had met with our florist prior to the invitations so I had a good idea of what our bouquets would look like on the big day. It was so amazing to see the invitations incorporate the exact flowers that we had! It really tied it all together and set the mood for the day.

Art Paper Scissors: What design element or feature was a “must have” for your wedding invitations?

Natalie: I really wanted our invitations to tie everything together, so I made sure to have our color scheme and flowers picked out before having our first meeting. I loved the details booklet Lisa came up with as I thought it was super fun and unique to other invitations I’ve seen! I also had this idea of doing a huge seating chart instead of escort cards, so I wanted to find someone who could also help me with this task. I purchased an antique gold frame and Lisa had the seating chart perfectly printed to match the invitations. It took so much stress off of me to have her help with this. On our wedding day, it was brought to life with some real greenery and flowers. It was truly one of my favorite decor pieces of the day!

Art Paper Scissors: What advice do you have for other brides and grooms looking to incorporate their theme or personal elements into their wedding invitations?

Natalie: I think my best advice to other brides and grooms is to do what is right for YOU, not someone else. It’s your wedding at the end of the day. So many people will have opinions on what your wedding day should be, what your dress should look like, what songs you should dance to, and the list goes on. At the end of the day, make your wedding day your own and follow your heart!
