Here at Art Paper Scissors, we absolutely love bringing a couples’ wedding theme to life. From save-the-dates to invitations to thank you cards and everything in between, Art Paper Scissors is a bride and groom’s one-stop-shop for all things stationery.
Today we are chatting with our May bride of the month, Jessica Baumgartner. In 2016, Jessica and her husband Rick tied the knot at the gorgeous Spring Lake Bath & Tennis Club in Spring Lake, New Jersey. We loved designing their beautiful blush and blue watercolor invitations, with romantic and elegant touches, including a vintage wax seal and stunning scripts.
Jessica tells all about her wedding day, theme and plenty of advice - read on and enjoy these picture-perfect photos, captured by Love & Light Photographs!
APS: Tell us about your wedding day. The date, place and any extra fun details you would like to share.
Jessica: Beautiful, sunny September Saturday 9/17/16
Spring Lake Bath & Tennis in Spring Lake, NJ
I can honestly say it was the happiest day of my life, being surrounded by all of our family and friends, enjoying the beautiful day and celebration of our love, often I wish I could do it all over again.
APS: How do you remember that special day? Any great memory that stands out?
Jessica: I think I can speak for both Rick and I that we will always treasure the memory of our wedding day. Hours felt went by in what felt like minutes. It was such a whirlwind but just the thought of the day brings a smile to my face. One of my favorite moments was our first look. I had always thought I would want to be more traditional and wait for my husband-to-be to see me walking down the aisle but I am so glad we decided on a first look. It was a quiet, special half hour where we were alone and could just focus on each other.
APS: What is your favorite part about being married?
Jessica: Having a partner through the daily ups and downs of life and knowing you have trusted confidant to share each day with. We got a puppy, we’re looking for our first home, so there’s been lots going on in our newlywed phase.
APS: Describe your wedding theme and feel in a few words. Why did you choose this theme?
Jessica: Laid back, casual, beachside elegance.
APS: How did you decide on your wedding invitation designs?
Jessica: I saw Lisa’s work online at first, and I soon realized the person behind all of the pretty paper was a friend from high school. From the moment I reached out to her, she listened, provided options, and was open to my ideas. The customization process was my favorite part.
APS: What design element or feature was a “must have” for your wedding invitations?
Jessica: I wanted the invitations to be unique from others I had seen and the ability to have some input in the details. I didn’t necessarily have a “must have” vision in mind, but I was able to share some ideas and things I liked with Lisa and she came back with beautiful options that made it tough to decide which I liked best.
APS: What advice do you have for other brides and grooms looking to incorporate their theme or personal elements into their wedding invitations?
Jessica: I think having a one-on-one relationship with the person caring for the invitations and paper items at your wedding is a must. Lisa is creative, patient, responsive and truly wants to make the bride's (and groom's) ideas come to life! From the initial "get to know you" conversation to the last minute details, Lisa's work is impeccable! We received so many compliments on our wedding paper (save-the-dates, invitations, ceremony material, menus) from her talented work! We cannot thank her enough for her attention to detail and the wonderful wedding stationery she created!
Thank you, Jessica and Rick! We are so happy that you have enjoyed almost two years of wedded bliss and happiness. Congratulations!
